Easing children into competition

Many parents know the benefits of competition for their children whilst quite naturally and understandably wishing to ensure they don’t become over exposed to injury, negative experiences or feeling pressured into it. Some children will love competition and take to it easily whilst others are happy just to ‘compete’ in class and hang out with friends. At SBG Whitefish we want to encourage those children who wish to compete by giving them a baby steps experience of deciding whether ‘formal competition’ is for them. This is why we invented the Gorilla Cup, a closed door members only event, that gently introduces them to competition in a highly controlled, friendly environment amongst other SBG members only. We also help parents to be at their very best at these events too. We understand as parents ourselves it is both exciting and nerve racking to watch those most dear to you in competition. Your children want nothing more than to be proud of them and their performance so we are there to support everyone and make it a positive and rewarding experience for the whole family. Once children have graduated from a Gorilla Cup, should they wish to compete further, the bigger events will be far less intimidating as they have seen it all before.
